The SAGs have been handed out, “August: Osage County” hasn’t been among the recipients once again. I think it’s safe to say this is Cate Blanchett’s year, which is just deserving. But it looks like Meryl and Emma Thompson had lots of fun on the red carpet. Over 200 additional pictures from the red carpet and the show have been added to the gallery. Many thanks to Lindsey for helping out. Also, screencaptures from the show have been added as well and the video is in the video archive. Enjoy the new additions.

Lots of updates today! Let’s start with the videos first. A clip of Meryl’s appearance at the Critics Choice – presenting the Best Director award to Alfonso Cuaron as well as the Best Actress segment – have been added, alongside a red carpet interview by Entertainment Tonight, in which she states her disappointment that Emma Thompson didn’t make the cut at the Oscar nominations. Then, ITV has aired an interview with Meryl on their programme “Lorraine”. This was taped back in November when Meryl was shooting “Into the Woods”, about she speaks (and sings) in this segment. Many thanks to Tina for uploading this in the first place. Enjoy the new clips.
Continuing with gallery updates, lots of additional pictures from the Critics Choice Awards have been added. Once again, thanks to Claudia for contributing some great pictures.
Last but not least, screencaptures from both the Critics Choice Awards and the Lorraine interview have been added to the gallery. If you’ve lost sight by now, use the summary list of all last updated gallery pages below the previews. Enjoy the new pictures.

Here’s a surprise for today. Although Meryl’s interview with Ellen has been taped yesterday but won’t air until Monday, Ellen’s website has posted three preview clips (which, together, run for 10 minutes, so that I call a preview!) from the interview. Meryl talks about her 18th Oscar nomination and the letter she wrote to Emma Thompson after finding out she was not nominated. She also talks about doing a safari after wrapping “The Giver” in South Africa last December. Then, Ellen lets Meryl read various text passages in different characters. So in case you’ve ever dreamed of Meryl reading a traffic report while giving birth, here you go. The preview clips have been combined to one (the middle one is not in the best quality but will be edited later) and can be found in the video archive. Promotional pictures as well as HD screencaptures have been added to the gallery.
The 19th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards have just started and Meryl and Julia Roberts have graced the red carpet. Both are nominees tonight in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress category, respectively. A first bunch of pictures have been added to the gallery with more to follow. Edit: Neither Streep nor Roberts have won, but over 200 additional pictures from both the red carpet and the ceremony (where Meryl presented the Best Director award to Alfonso Cuaron for “Gravity”) have been added to the gallery.
Yesterday, Meryl Streep attended Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote “August: Osage County”. As a change to the recent ones, this is a rather lenghty and informative interview. Besides “August” and living in a condo with her co-stars while filming, they talk about Paul McCartney’s “Queenie Eye” music video, Meryl’s visit to the Beatles concert in the 1960s.
The full interview can be watched in the video archive. HD screencaptures have been added to the gallery. In other news, Meryl has been announced among the presenters for Saturday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, so we’ll see her on stage, winning or not. Also, expect more updates after tonight’s Critics Choice Awards. Edit: Many thanks to Claudia for sending in some fantastic pictures from the taping of the show.
The Wrap reports that Harvey Weinstein promised that an upcoming film starring Meryl Streep that will make the National Rifle Association “wish they weren’t alive” during an interview with Howard Stern earlier this week, and now it has a title. A Weinstein Co. spokeswoman told TheWrap on Thursday that the film will be called “The Senator’s Wife.” “I don’t think we need guns in this country,” Weinstein told Stern on Wednesday. “I think the NRA is a disaster area.” “I shouldn’t say this, but I’ll tell it to you, Howard,” Weinstein added. “I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this head-on. And they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.” Weinstein described the film as a “big movie like a ‘Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,’” which he hopes will make audiences think: “Gun stocks — I don’t want to be involved in that stuff. It’s going to be like crash and burn.” Thanks to everybody for the heads-up.
Congratulations to Meryl Streep for receiving her 18th Oscar nomination as Best Actress for “August: Osage County”. This is a great surprise since a nomination didn’t seem to be certain this year. Most “experts” saw four spots of the Best Actress category a lock and the fifth place up for grab between Meryl and Amy Adams. In the end, both Streep and Adams have received a nomination, alongside Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine), Sandra Bullock (Gravity) and Judi Dench (Philomena). Emma Thompson, who has tipped a favorite, has missed out a nomination. Julia Roberts has also received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for “August: Osage County”. The 86th Academy Awards will be handed out on March 2, 2014. Entertainment Tonight has released Meryl’s reaction to her 18th Oscar nomination:
I am so happy for our film that Julia and I have been nominated. We are both so proud of August: Osage County. This honor from the Academy, for which we are truly grateful, will help bring attention to our film from audiences across the country, which is thrilling.
Over 100 additional pictures from all public appearances that Meryl has made in 2014 have been added to the gallery. They include some fantastic new pictures from the Golden Globes as well as the National Board of Review, Palms Springs Film Festival and the “August: Osage County” Q&A at the DGA Theater. Also, many pictures have been replaced with HQ versions. My biggest thanks to Lindsey for helping me with these last additions. Very appreciated. Enjoy the new pictures.

Great news from the talkshows circuit. Tonight, Meryl will be a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live (11:35/10:35c on ABC) to talk about “August: Osage County” and on Monday, she’ll be attending the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Tomorrow will be a busy day as well – the Academy Award nominations are announced and the Critics Choice Movie Awards take place. So, check back for more updates tomorrow.
