Congratulations to Meryl Streep for receving a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for “Into the Woods”. She shares the category with Patricia Arquette (Boyhood), Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game), Emma Stone (Birdman) and Naomi Watts (St. Vincent). Surprisingly, the cast of “Into the Woods” has not received a nomination for Best Ensemble. The Screen Actors Guild Awards will be handed out on January 25. The Golden Globe nominations will be announced tomorrow. Also, don’t miss Meryl’s appearance tonight on the Late Show with David Letterman and Nightline’s special segment on “Into the Woods.
The New York premiere for “Into the Woods” took place yesterday and pretty much all of its key players were on hand to celebrate the film. Many pictures have been added to the image library. My biggest thanks to Lindsey for her wonderful contributions. More coverage and videos to follow.
Yesterday, Meryl Streep has attended the Kennedy Center Honors to pay tribute to honoree Sting. “He’s still unsatisfied… thinking, ‘What’s next? What’s left to discover?” Streep said. “In his search for his own truth, he whispers directly into our hearts”. It was a star-filled crowd, judging by these pictures, which show Meryl mingling with Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Steven Spielberg, Sting and Melanie Griffith. Pictures from the ceremony and after-party have been added to the image library.
Edit: More clips, including a lenghty press junket interview and a segment with E! Entertainment, have been added to the video archive as well. Yesterday, ABC aired their World News Tonight segment on “Into the Woods”, featuring an interview with Meryl on the streets of New York, and joined by her co-stars for a conversation about the film. It looks like this is only an apetizer since the cast will be featured on Nightline next week. The full video as well as screencaptures can be found in the archives. Many thanks to Glenn for the heads-up.
This morning, Meryl has been a guest on Live with Kelly and Michael to talk about “Into the Woods” (and her disastrous Thanksgiving). The full interview and screencaptures can be found in the image and video archives. Also, Meryl’s speech at the Gotham Independent Film Awards have been added alongside screencaptures, a new segment from Entertainment Tonight, featuring interviews with Meryl, Emily Blunt and Chris Pine, and press images from the taping of “Good Morning America” with many thanks to Claudia for sending them in. Enjoy the new additions.
Last night, Meryl atended the 2014 Gotham Independent Film Awards to present the Special Jury Award for Ensemble Performance to Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo in the film Foxcatcher. Carell picked up the honour on behalf of the trio and joked about the fact Meryl Streep was on hand to give him the trophy, stating, “They got Meryl Streep to come here and give us this award. Suck on that!” Pictures from the ceremony can be found in the image library.
This morning, Meryl has visited Good Morning America to promote Into the Woods. She talked about finally playing a witch after refusing it so often in her past, the recent internet story of Emily Blunt saving her life, and what role she would like to play that she hasn’t played. The full interview can be watched in the video archive with HD screencaptures being added to the image library.
Lots of additional pictures have been added to the image library over the weekend, including a new production still from “Into the Woods”, several international posters and a first For Your Consideration ad for the film, as well as many new pictures from both recent appearances and other events that took place in 2014. For a complete overview, check the links below the previews. My biggest thanks to both Claudia and Lindsey for sending in some fantastic pictures.
This week, “The Giver” has been released on Blu-Ray, DVD and on demand in the United States. With many thanks to Ali, screencaptures from the Blu-Ray have been added to the image library. Yesterday, Meryl has paid a visit to Broadway and former “Plenty” co-star Sting at a performance of “The Last Ship”. Pictures have been added to the image library. Edit: Additional pictures from the New York press conference for “Into the Woods” have been added as well.
