“The Devil Wears Prada” co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt joined together 18 years (!) after the 2006 film to present the award for Male Actor in a Comedy at the 2024 SAG Awards. Streep took the stage in a Prada dress to present the first award of the night, but comically stumbled when she reached the microphone. “Two things,” Streep said. “I forgot my glasses, clearly. And the envelope.” Those problems were quickly rectified when her former onscreen assistants Blunt and Hathaway joined her on stage. Blunt brought the envelope, while Hathaway brought Streep’s glasses. Fans of the movie might have noticed that Hathaway wore a cerulean blue dress, perhaps a reference Streep’s iconic speech in the movie where she informs Andy Sachs that she only wears blue because the fashion industry told her too. Jeremy Allen White won the category for “The Bear”, which also took home the prize for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series over Streep and colleagues for “Only Murders in the Building”. Pictures from the ceremony have been added to the photo gallery.

Happy New Year everybody. At the Palm Springs Film Awards on Thursday night, Meryl Streep made a rare public appearance and heaped some big praise on Barbie in the process. Streep, who was on hand at the event to present Carey Mulligan with the International Star Award, took the stage following the presentation of an earlier award to Billie Eilish and Finneas for their hit song “What Was I Made For?” Before presenting to Mulligan, Streep told the duo, “I just want to say to Billie and Finneas that you have delivered the Barbie love bomb. You’ve saved the movies last summer and all of our jobs. You’ve delivered joy to countless generations and genders of people, and you should surf that wave kids, until you’re old and deserve to be jaded like me.” The Hollywood Reporter has a lengthy article on Streep’s appearance with more quotes. A video of Meryl’s speech has been added with many thanks to EvaSofie. Pictures from the ceremony have been added to the photo gallery.

Here’s another fantastic find for the archives. In the September 28, 1981, programme of “Film 81 with Barry Norman”, the BBC took us behind the scenes of “The French Lieutenant’s Woman”, which was released in the United Kingdom the following month. Besides some amazing footage from the filming, the segment also featured interviews with Karel Reisz and Jeremy Irons on the set, both reminiscing on working with “America’s greatest new star” Meryl Streep – as well as an interview with Meryl herself, conducted in London for the film’s release. The entire programme can be found in the video archive. Screencaptures have been added to the photo archive.

Screencaptures from Tuesday’s fifth episode of “Only Murders in the Building” have been added to the photo gallery. The episode was accompanied by a Variety article on the many, many easter eggs of Loretta’s (terribly cluttered) apartment, which pay tribute to Streep’s career. Hulu has put one clip from the episode on Youtube, which you can find in the video archive – and a nice batch of additional magazine scans and reviews covering the previous episodes have been added to the gallery as well, with many thanks to Alvaro for sending them in. As always, many thanks to M as well for providing the screencaptures. Enjoy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Meryl Streep and Ashley Park’s breathtaking rendition of “Look for the Light” from season three of Only Murders in the Building has been released on all streaming platforms. The new, original song featured in episode three, “Grab Your Hankies,” was written for the show by Grammy winner Sara Bareilles alongside Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Oscar, Grammy and Tony-winning songwriter-producers behind La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen. The single, which is currently available on Spotify and Apple Music, is among a season three soundtrack that features new music from a number of notable Broadway names, including Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman and Michael R. Jackson, alongside an original score by Siddhartha Khosla. “It was so easy to say yes to this invitation,” Bareilles said in a statement about her decision to co-write the song for the Hulu series. “I love the delicious unpredictability of collaboration, and this was as joyful and undeniable as they come.” “Meryl was gentle and focused, and I loved her musicality and her willingness to share her process,” Bareilles added. “Ashley Park’s glorious counter melody was added later, and I got goosebumps the first time I heard it.” Pasek and Paul also called Bareilles a dream collaborator, as they crafted the “song for the legendary Meryl Streep” alongside her. “Getting to shape this song around Meryl’s voice, and working together in the studio and on set, was a dream and we are three very lucky songwriters. Meryl not only amazed us with her usual brilliance and mastery of the craft, but also inspired us with her humility and tireless work ethic. While it is unfair for someone to be so wonderful at everything, it’s a basic human truth that we all must reckon with!”

Only Murders in the Building has just lifted the veil on the season 3 trailer, showing us the impressive cast joining Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin for another round of mystery. The season 3 trailer shows us that we’ll be treated to the before and after of Paul Rudd’s character’s death, also revealing that there’s a lot of animosity between the cast of Oliver’s play. Specifically between Ben and Loretta Durkin we might add, played by none other than the legendary Meryl Streep. We’re going to have to wait and find out to see if the show has cast Meryl Streep as the killer, but it turns out that the iconic actress herself didn’t even know if she was the one to bump off Paul Rudd or not. The show’s boss John Hoffman told Deadline: “Throughout out the season, we keep the scripts pretty tight, even with our main cast. I loved watching Meryl be attuned to that and come to that in some way throughout season 3. “She kept on wondering, ‘Am I going to die? Am I going to be the murderer?’ She had to know what was coming up next, it was funny.”

In a first look video clip by Entertainment Weekly, Sienna Miller informs Meryl Streep that she is the last humpback whale on Earth. Miller and Streep’s debut episode, “2046,” presents an abysmal hereafter where animals, including tigers and orangutans, are extinct. Miller portrays Rebecca, an archivist who studies the extinctions and works to preserve the animals’ memories, while Streep – without giving too much away – is not merely a whale per se, but Rebecca’s late mother, Eve. While an email from Burns containing an enticing P.S. that Streep would play her mother was enough for Miller to say yes to the project script unseen, it helped that the source material centered on a topic that she already cares deeply about. “When you’re dealing with such an enormous crisis of climate and also climate change denial – especially having lived in America throughout the last presidential reign, and having seen the documentaries, many of which Scott was involved with – there’s a lot that can be said from watching documentaries and dealing with hard facts,” Miller tells EW. “Extrapolations” debuts March 17 on Apple TV+ with three episodes, followed by weekly episodes on Fridays until April 21. The complete article and video clip can be found over at Entertainment Weekly.
