An all-star cast including actors Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Philip Seymor Hoffman, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts will collaborate, in November, on a revival and adaptation of The World of Nick Adams by A. E. Hotchner and Aaron Copland. The work, originally broadcast by CBS-TV in 1957, will be presented at New York’sAvery Fisher Hall on November 19. The piece, which is based on the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, hasn’t been performed since its initial airing on television. The performance will be a benefit for Newman’s Association of Hole in the Wall Gang Camps, which services children with life-threatening diseases.
Christopher Reeve joined some 1,000 friends and donors at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City Tuesday for “A Magical Evening: Discover the Magic,” a black-tie fundraiser for the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. Helen Hunt hosted the event, which was attended by couples Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick and Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, as well as Billy Baldwin, Denise Rich, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close and Joe Pantoliano.
Hollywood.com reported that ten years after it became a sensation on Broadway, Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning gay-themed play Angels in America, May be coming to television as an HBO miniseries starring Al Pacino and Meryl Streep and directed by Mike Nichols, the New York Post reported Friday, citing a person close to the project. The project will be a joint production between HBO and A venue Pictures and would be aired as six one-hour episodes, the newspaper said.

The Associated Press reports that Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden (Best Supporting Actress for “Pollock”) has joined the already astonishing cast of ‘The Seagull’, which opens July 24th. The players, including Streep and Harden, as well as Kevin Kline, Christopher Walken and John Goodman have their last show on August 10 at the outdoor Delacorte Theater.
Meryl Streep is sheduled to sing “Amazing Grace” Friday during a 25th anniversary commemoration of the death of Karen Silkwood. Ms. Streep played the title role in the 1983 movie, “Silkwood” and sang “Amazing Grace” in the film. Proceeds from the tribute – which also features appearances by folk singer Toshi Reagon, the film’s director Mike Nichols and Ms. Silkwood’s father Bill – benefit the Just Health Care Campaign, a union-sponsored health-care reform program.
