Yesterday, Meryl has attended the 21th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards as a nominee for “Into the Woods”. As predicted, the Best Supporting Actress trophy went to Patricia Arquette. Pictures from the arrivals and the show have been added to the image library. My biggest thanks to Lindsey for contributing most of these. Thanks.

“Into the Woods” finally arrived in movie theaters nationwide on Christmas Day, opening at #2, and it continues to remain in the Top 10 in its fourth week of release. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the musical opened with $31 million, the highest-grossing opening of a Broadway-based movie musical in history. “Into the Woods” added an estimated $19 million more to that figure stateside and nearly $6 million more from international markets the next weekend, bringing the total projected domestic and international gross to over $97 million worldwide for its first 10 days of release. Subsequently, INTO THE WOODS added more than $9 million more domestically last week and more than $6 million this week, bringing its stateside total to an estimated $114 million and international to $140 million for its first four weeks of release. Those who can’t wait to revisit the film won’t have to wait long – it will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in the United States in March.

Coverage on this year’s Critics Choice Movie Awards falls flat because Meryl wasn’t there and didn’t win (and since the show has been said to be worste than last year in terms, it’s not a big loss). However, I’ve added the Best Supporting Actress segment to the video archive for archival reasons :-) Then, two new featurettes for “Into the Woods” have been posted as well as the London press confernece for the film.

Congratulations to Meryl Streep for receiving an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress for “Into the Woods”. She shares the category with Patricia Arquette for “Boyhood”, Laura Dern for “Wild”, Keira Knightley for “The Imitation Game” and Emma Stone for “Birdman”. This is Meryl’s 19th Academy Award nomination and the fourth as Best Supporting Actress (after “Adaptation”, “The Deer Hunter” and winning for “Kramer vs. Kramer”). The Oscars are handed out on February 22, 2015.

Meryl Streep, Mark Ruffalo and James McAvoy have attended “The Graham Norton Show” in a taped appearance that aired yesterday night in the United Kingdom. Fresh off the London premiere for “Into the Woods”, Meryl talked about the film, some often-told stories (her “King Kong” audition) and shared a funny story on her first Golden Globe appearance in 1980. This was a surprise to hear as I was certain she hasn’t attended the ceremony until 1989 (hence the lack of pictures from any previous appearances), but maybe her story gives a good explanation why she didn’t want to have her picture taken back in 1980. The full appearance has been added to the video archive. It’s split in two parts due to its length, the second part can be watched here. Additionally, screencaptures from the show have been added as well.

Both the “Into the Woods” London photocall and premiere albums have been updated with hundreds of additional pictures, with many thanks to Claudia for her contributions. There are also additional making of screencaptures and a wonderful new on-set picture from “Into the Woods”. Screencaptures from the BBC Breakfast interview and the various Golden Globe interviews have been added as well. As always, check the full list below the previews.

Lots of new video clips have been added to the archive, all being released over the past days to promote “Into the Woods” in the United Kingdom. There’s a new promotional interview, tv reports on Lorraine and BBC Breakfast and a new featurette entitled “The Magic of the Woods”. And you gotta love Entertainment Tonight for digging through their archives and screening some vintage interviews with Meryl at various Golden Globe ceremonies. In case you’ve ever wondered if Mary Hart’s remark on Meryl whipping out a flask was true, they got their proof – just watch her interview at the red carpet at the 2000 Golden Globe Awards. Meryl Streep has been announced to present at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards this Sunday. She joins previously announced presenters including Amy Adams, Adrien Brody, Bryan Cranston, Robert Downey Jr., Colin Firth and many more. Meryl is also nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for “Into the Woods”. Meanwhile – while I think that no nomination equals no news – the BAFTA nominations have been announced today, and while Meryl has not received a nomination, “Into the Woods” has received two nods for Costume Design (Coleen Atwood) and Make-up and Hair (Peter Swords King, J. Roy Helland), so congratulations to them. Thanks to everybody for the heads-up.
