Various sources, including MSNBC.com announced Meryl to present an award at the 2004 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Streep herself is nominated as Best Female Television Actress for “Angels in America”. The SAGs will be handed out this Sunday.

Congratulations to Meryl for winning another Golden Globe Award. She was voted Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Movie made for Television for her performance in “Angels in America”. The big winner in the television categories, “Angels” scored a total of five Golden Globes, including Best Movie made for Television, Best Actor (Al Pacino), Best Actress (Meryl Streep) and the supporting performances by Jeffrey Whright and Mary-Louise Parker. Earlier on the show, Meryl also presented a Golden Globe to Tim Robbins in the Best Supporting Actor category.

Meryl Streep has received a nomination as Best Female Actor in a Television Movie or Mini-Series for “Angels in America”. She shares this category with Anne Bancroft and Helen Mirren (both nominated for “Tennessee Williams’ The Romance Spring of Mrs. Stone”) and her fellow co-stars Emma Thompson and Mary-Louise Parker, who also catched nominations for “Angels”, which scored a total of six nominations. The Screen Actors Guild Awards air live on TNT on February 22, 2004.

Meryl has been mentioned with a nomination for the Golden Globe as Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for Television for her work in “Angels in America”. She shares the category with Judy Davis (The Reagans), Jessica Lange (Normal), Helen Mirren (The Romance of Mrs. Stone) and Maggie Smith (My House in Umbria). “Angels in America” received 6 more nominations for Best Picture (Television), Al Pacino, Mary- Louise Parker and the supporting actors Ben Shenkman, Patrick Wilson and Jeffrey Wright. The American Film Institute will honor Meryl Streep with its 32nd Life Achievement Award. The film organization’s board of trustees selected the 54-year-old star to receive its highest honor. Streep is set to accept the award June 10 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood in a ceremony that will air on USA Network. “Her talent, range and determination to master her craft bring out performances that sometimes border on the ethereal,” trustee chair Howard Stringer said Friday. “In that sense, she is truly peerless.” More information can be found at www.afi.com

It wasn’t really a surprise when Catherine Zeta-Jones was announced in the Best Supporting Actress category for which Meryl has won her 13th nomination for “Adaptation”. Later in the show, she presented the Lifetime Achivement Award to Peter O’Toole. Nicole Kidman won the trophy for “The Hours”, so did Chris Cooper for “Adaptation”.

Meryl Streep was named Commander in the Order of the Arts and Letters by French Culture Minister Jean-Jacques Aillagon today at the Culture Ministry in Paris. Streep is to attend later the Cesars ceremony of French cinema awards.

Altough she lost to Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Best Supporting Actress category, Meryl Streep entered the stage at the British Academy Awards for giving perhaps the evening’s best moment – Streep read aloud Kaufman’s “faxed” acceptance speech, which was as funny as Adaptation and even funnier read by Streep. Kaufman won for Best Adapted Screenplay, Nicole Kidman was named Best Actress for “The Hours”.

Meryl Streep will receive an honorary Cesar, France’s answer to the Academy Award, at a ceremony in Paris on Saturday, French film sources say. The actress is a surprise addition to the lineup, announced by the French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques earlier this month.

The Berlinale’s Silver Bear for the Best Actress of the year went surprisingly to three actress: Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep for “The Hours”. “Adaptation” also won the festival’s Silver Bear as Best Film.
