Added more pictures from the red carpet (previous ones have been replaced with better versions), the show and the Vanity Fair after-party, screencaps from the show and a red carpet interview that aired on German television. Here are the first pictures of Meryl at the Academy Awards. As expected, the Best Actress Oscar went to Helen Mirren and although Meryl was announced to present on stage with Jack Nicholson, it was Diane Keaton in the end presenting the Oscar with him for Best Picture. Anyway, check back later for more pictures, screencaps and of course videos from the show and the red carpet.


MERYL STREEP TO PRESENT AT THE OSCARS

Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep, who each hold the record for most Academy AwardŽ nominations by actors, in their respective categories will join OscarŽ winner Philip Seymour Hoffman as presenters on the 79th Academy Awards, telecast producer Laura Ziskin announced today. They will be joined by Oscar nominees Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey, Jr., Greg Kinnear, Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts. Ziskin also announced that Gael Garcia Bernal, Emily Blunt, Catherine Deneuve, former Vice President Al Gore, James McAvoy and Jerry Seinfeld will be presenting. "LIONS FOR LAMBS" TO BE RELEASED NOVEMBER 9

At least this is a first official release date by the films' distributor United Artists according to article: United Artists and MGM have announced that Robert Redford's "Lions for Lambs" will be released in North America on Friday, November 9, 2007, with the remainder of the world to roll out in subsequent months. Principal photography on the first production from the new UA, began on January 29th with Robert Redford directing and starring alongside Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, Derek Luke, Michael Pena, Andrew Garfield and Peter Berg. Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote the original screenplay. Also, according to the IMDb, Meryl's character will be named Ursula Leachman.

MERYL RUMORED TO STAR IN "DOUBT" FILM

According to the New York Post columnist Cindy Adams, Meryl Streep has been cast as the stern Sister Aloysius in the upcoming big screen adaptation of John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Doubt". With a screenplay and direction by Shanley (who won an Oscar for his Moonstruck screenplay), the film will be produced by Scott Rudin for Miramax. Shooting will likely begin in fall of 2007. The video archive has been re-launched with LOTS of new and very rare video clips! First of all, my biggest thanks to Jess for hosting all videos, you're really the greatest!!! I also wanna thank Mariana for her many video contributions, it's so much appreciated. Now on to the new stuff, there are Oscar clips from 1991, 1988 and 1982, her appearance at the 1990 Grammy Awards, presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to Paul McCartney and a very comprehensive documentary on Meryl with lots of great interviews, E! "THE LAST STATION" TO BE FILMED IN GERMANY 2007

Lots of film news these days. Although Meryl's appearance as Tolstoy's wife in "The Last Station" is not officially confirmed yet, Variety has reported on February 8 that "The Last Station" has completed its financing with a $1 million award this week from German funding org FFA. The pic is now set to shoot in Germany sometime this year, pending confirmation of dates by Hopkins and Streep. The pic is based on Jay Parini's book about the aging Tolstoy's dilemma whether to bequeath his wealth to his beloved family, or to donate it to projects for the public good. MERYL WINS LONDON FILM CRITICS AND NORTH TEXAS FILM ASSOCIATION AWARDS

Meryl Streep can add a few other awards to her shelf as she was awarded Actress of the Year by the London Film Critics - her award was picked up on her behalf by "Angels in America" co-star Emma Thompson - and as Best Actress by the North Texas Film Association, both for "The Devil Wears Prada". BILL NIGHY MENTIONED TO STAR IN "MAMMA MIA!"

Bill Nighy could soon be singing for his supper if a deal for him to star alongside Meryl Streep in the movie of the musical Mamma Mia! goes through. The two stars would play old lovers in the film which Phyllida Lloyd will direct this summer. Those backing the film, which is being made by the trio of British women behind the stage show - producer Judy Craymer, writer Catherine Johnson and Ms Lloyd - want Nighy to play the part of Sam, one of three men who are invited to the wedding of the daughter of a former flame (Streep).

"DARK MATTER" WINS ALFRED P. SLOAN PRIZE

The 2007 Sundance Film Festival is pleased to announce that "Dark Matter" is the recipient of this year's Alfred P. Sloan Prize. The Prize, made possible by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to the Sundance Institute s Science-in-Film Initiative, carries a $20,000 cash award to the writer/director of an outstanding feature film focusing on science or technology as a theme, or depicting a scientist, engineer or mathematician as a major character. DARK MATTER, inspired by real events, delves into the world of a brilliant Chinese cosmology student whose dreams are challenged when he arrives in the U.S. to pursue his Ph.D. The film, which screened in this year s Spectrum section, was recognized for its evocative portrayal of the scientific passions, career politics, and cultural conflicts in an astrophysics research laboratory; and for its impressive achievement in filmmaking, incl. note-worthy performances by its main actors Liu Ye, Aidan Quinn and Meryl Streep.
