UPDATE ON "THEATER FOR THE NEW EAR"
Posted: 2005-08-11 | Source: Webmaster

I received an email by UCLA Live with the latest news on "Theater of the New Ear" and its new cast additions. Thanks very much to Abby for contacting me

Theater of the New Ear
Charlie Kaufman and Carter Burwell Hope Davis, Peter Dinklage, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan, Meryl Streep, David Thewlis
Original sound plays set to music by Carter Burwell

Hope Leaves the Theater, Written and Directed by Charlie Kaufman
Anomalisa, Written and Directed by Francis Fregoli
Presented by UCLA Live and Arts at St. Ann's

Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Being John Malkovich; Adaptation) brings the quirky drama and savage wit of his award-winning movies to the stage in this very special event, which features live readings of his Hope Leaves the Theater and an as-yet untitled work by newcomer Francis Fregoli. Set to music and conducted by prolific film composer and collaborator Carter Burwell, the plays come to life before your ears, with great actors, scripts in hand, joined on stage by a sound-effects artist and a live band to create multiple characters and parallel realities. No film, no sets, no costumes. This will be an evening like none you've ever seen-or heard-before.

Sep 14-16 at Royce Hall, UCLA | for tickets call 310.825.2101 or www.uclalive.org
