The SNL50: The Homecoming Concert was a live, three-hour concert special to commemorate the 50th anniversary season of Saturday Night Live ahead of its anniversary live performance on February 16. The concert was hosted by longtime former cast member and Weekend Update co-anchor Jimmy Fallon, featuring special appearances by Ana Gasteyer, Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph, Paul Shaffer, Tracy Morgan, Will Ferrell, and more surprise guests, as well as music performances by Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Cher, David Byrne, Dave Grohl, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Eddie Vedder, and Jack White, among many others.
Jimmy Fallon (Host), Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Cher, Chris Martin, Dave Grohl, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, Snoop Dogg, St. Vincent, The B-52s, The Roots, Wyclef Jean
During the televised event, “Saturday Night Live” alums Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer got on stage and reprised their roles as fictional Altadena Middle School music teachers Marty and Bobbi Mohan-Cu. “We have pretty significant floaters right now, but it doesn’t stop us from seeing so many middle fingers peppered in both the upper mezzanine and orchestra section,” said Ferrell, 57. “It’s just unbelievably rude.” “We’re talking about you, Meryl Streep. We see you,” added Gasteyer. The camera then cut to Streep, flipping the bird from her seat in the crowd. Short and the rest of the audience burst out laughing over Streep’s response.
