Arctic Refuge: A Vanishing Wilderness

August 19, 1992 · 60 minutes
Directed by: Christopher N. Palmer
This ecological documentary focuses on the area along the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This 100-mile area of wilderness, replete with wildlife, is under threat as the oil and gas industries fight to drill in the same area. In late spring each year, the coastal plain of the arctic national wildlife refuge is the site of an extraordinary animal gathering. Now the oil and gas industry wants to drill on this same 100-mile stretch, the last remaining north coast wilderness. Narrated by Meryl Streep.
