Meryl receives 20th Golden Globe nomination!

Meryl Streep has received a Golden Globe nomination as Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for "The Manchurian Candidate". She shares this category with Cate Blanchett (The Aviator), Laura Linney (Kinsey), Virginia Madsen (Sideways) and Natalie Portman (Closer). This is Streep's 20th nomination for the Golden Globe, holding the record as most nominated actor in Globe history (she's also the most Oscar-nominated actress of all times). The Golden Globes will be handed out on January 16, 2005. Congratulations!

Streep dropped out of "All the King's Men"

According to ComingSoon.net, Meryl Streep has decided to drop out of Columbia Pictures' "All the King's Men", based on the novel by Robert Penn Warren, reports Variety. Another actress is expected to be announced for the project soon. Streep was set to play Sadie, the aide to Willy Stark. The full article can be read here.

Production Update on "Prairie Home Companion"

According to the Associated Press, Robert Altman's "Prairie Home Companion" is still in financing status. Screenwriter Garrison Keillor was interviewed by AP and revealed that none of the stars, including Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin and Tom Waits have yet signed until there's a definite start date. Meryl Streep pays tribute to Christopher Reeve

Three weeks after Christopher Reeve's death, his family and friends celebrated him Friday at a place that was central to his life: The Juilliard School, where he first honed his acting skills and later returned to receive an honorary doctorate. Actors Liam Neeson, Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep and Kim Cattrall attended the Memorial.

Streep mentioned to star in "All The King's Men"

Meryl Streep wins Emmy Award

Congratulations to Meryl Streep on winning the Emmy Award for "Angels in America". Leading the award show as a favorite with 21 nominations, "Angels" scored awards in every category it was nominated for, including honors as Best Television Movie, for Mike Nichols, Tony Kushner and its actors Al Pacino, Mary Louise Parker and Jeffrey Whright. With a total of 11 wins, "Angels in America" ties the record as most awarded film in the Emmy history with "Eleanor and Franklin" (1976).

Shooting on "Prime" has begun

Actors Uma Thurman and Bryan Greenburg have been spotted on a first day of shooting of "Prime", today in Thompkins Square Park in the East Village in New York City. With the quick replacement since Bullock dropped out, the film's release shouldn't be pushed back that much.

According to ComingSoon.net, the rumors are true that Sandra Bullock dropped out of "Prime" and is replaced by Uma Thurman. The film has been further joined by Bryan Greenberg as Meryl Streep's son and Annie Parisse as Thurman's best friend. An official announcement on Uma is not yet out, as Paramount Pictures still lists Bullock.

The 2004 Venice Film Festival will show "The Manchurian Candidate". Director Jonathan Demme and his cast, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep and John Voigt are expected to attend the festival and the film's photo-call on September 02, 2004. "The Manchurian Candidate" will run out of competition.

Meryl to present at New York Aids Film Festival

Various sources, including an interview with USA Today, has mentioned Meryl's involvement with the next Robert Altman film, "Prairie Home Companion". The article quoted her to "play half of a female country music duo. It used to be a trio and might have been a quartet. We keep losing members". Shooting begins in January 2005. Yet, Meryl's involvement hasn't been officially announced.

Lansbury regrets, Streep disturbed about "Manchurian" buzz

With the release of "The Manchurian Candidate", Entertainment Weekly reported about Angela Lansbury's displeasure on Meryl Streep taking over the role she performed in the original film. Further it was written that Streep had based her character on senator Hilary Clinton and that Paramount had to cut additional scenes that were too much Clinton. In an interview with NBC, Streep stated that she was disturbed by these reports, adding that her performance was not based on Clinton, but "who says I haven’t modeled it on a man?". And although Entertainment Weekly stands by its taped interview, Streep reveals that Lansbury called her and denied she made the statements. "She said, 'I never said this. I love all the people making this. I don't know who started the rumor."

Meryl Streep receives Emmy nomination!

Meryl has received a nomination as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Mini-Series or TV-Movie for her performances in "Angels in America". She shares the category with Glenn Close (The Lion Winter), Judy Davis (The Reagans), Helen Mirren (Prime Suspect 6) and Emma Thompson (Angels in America). The mini-series leads the Emmy race with a total of 21 nominations, including for Best Mini-Series, Mike Nichols and his complete cast in the lead and supporting cate-gories. American Film Institute announces TV schedule and guest list

"The 32nd AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Meryl Streep" will air on USA Network on Monday, June 21, 2004, at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The gala, which take place on June 10, 2004, will be attended by Streep's friends and colleagues, including Robert De Niro and Clint Eastwood, as well as Jim Carrey, Nora Ephron, Carrie Fisher, Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, Kevin Kline, Mike Nichols, Sydney Pollack, Robert Redford, Kurt Russell, Tracey Ullman and Claire Danes. Meryl Streep to chair Bernards High School centennial in 2005

The Bernards High School alumni are both participating in the school’s centennial celebration. Palmer, who was graduated from the high school 50 years ago, is spear-heading the event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 18–19, 2005. The former borough mayor got two-time Oscar winner Streep, a former cheerleader and homecoming queen from the Class of 1967, to be the event’s honorary chairwoman. New Dramatics will honor Meryl Streep on March 27

She shares this category with Anne Bancroft and Helen Mirren (both nominated for "Tennessee Williams' The Romance Spring of Mrs. Stone") and her fellow co-stars Emma Thompson and Mary-Louise Parker, who also catched nominations for "Angels", which scored a total of six nominations. The Internet Movie Database has published first release dates for the upcoming "The Manchurian Candidate", including October 21, 2004 for Germany, October 29, 2004 for the UK and November 03, 2004 for France, a US release date is not yet given. A US release date for "Lemony Snicket A Series of Unfortunate Events" is sheduled for December 25, 2004. Also, Meryl's upcoming performances in "Chaos", "Flora Plum" and "Prime" are still unconfirmed
