Overcome by the power of memory, Ann Lord reveals a long-held secret to her concerned
daughters. Both are bedside when Ann calls out for the man she loved more than any
other. While Constance and Nina try to take stock of Ann’s life and their own lives,
their mother is tended to by a night nurse as she journeys in her mind back to a
summer weekend some fifty years ago, when she was a young woman who has come from New
York City to be maid of honor at the high-society Newport wedding of her dearest
friend Lila Wittenborn. Ann stays close to her friend, yet is even closer to Lila’s
irrepressible brother Buddy. Unexpected feelings surge forth once Ann meets wedding
guest Harris Arden, a lifelong friend and intimate of the Wittenborn family. Ann’s
love for Harris will change her life, and those of her daughters, forever.

The magic and organized commotion of moviemaking is on display at 43 Highland Road where the 106 -year-old Colonial home of John Foley and Elizabeth Finn is serving as the set for what may be one of the most promising films to be released in the next year.
Trailers, lights, generators, tents, caterers, guys with cell phones, police at the entrances, trucks, taxis and more all crowd the location as an estimated 60 men and women daily spill through.

Vanessa Redgrave, Natasha Richardson, Meryl Streep, Toni Collette, Patrick Wilson and Eileen Atkins are trooping into Tiverton to shoot scenes for the movie Evening. Production on the film at a private residence on Highland Road began last week and is expected to continue through late next week, according to the film’s publicist, Amy Johnson. In coming weeks, Newport residents and visitors may spot Vanessa Redgrave, Meryl Streep or Glenn Close around town.
The stars are in Rhode Island to film"Evening,"a movie about a woman who remembers her romantic past in flashback as she lies on her deathbed.
