On Sunday, Meryl Streep attended the 66th Annual Grammy Awards – both as a nominee for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording for “Big Tree” (she didn’t win, the Grammy went to Michelle Obama) and a presenter on stage. The mother and son-in-law duo took to the stage to present Miley Cyrus with the coveted award for Record Of The Year. As host Trevor Noah remarked, “Mark Ronson, one of the greatest producers of all time,’ the comedian said. ‘Get this, his mother-in-law is going to be sitting right here. You know who she is? Meryl Streep, that’s right. Meryl Streep, one of the greatest Meryl Streeps of all time. She’s going to be in this chair. I can’t believe that Meryl Streep is here.” Pictures from the ceremony have been added to the photo gallery. Screencaptures and videos will be added later.

On Sunday’s show, Streep will be on stage presenting (and maybe also accepting Best Narrator for “Big Tree”, which would be her first Grammy win). While there is no official information what award Meryl will be presenting, chances are good she will be introducing Joni Mitchell’s first ever Grammy appearance. The 2024 Grammys will air live on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 8-11:30 p.m. ET/5-8:30 p.m. PT on the CBS Television Network and stream on Paramount+.

Happy New Year everybody. At the Palm Springs Film Awards on Thursday night, Meryl Streep made a rare public appearance and heaped some big praise on Barbie in the process. Streep, who was on hand at the event to present Carey Mulligan with the International Star Award, took the stage following the presentation of an earlier award to Billie Eilish and Finneas for their hit song “What Was I Made For?” Before presenting to Mulligan, Streep told the duo, “I just want to say to Billie and Finneas that you have delivered the Barbie love bomb. You’ve saved the movies last summer and all of our jobs. You’ve delivered joy to countless generations and genders of people, and you should surf that wave kids, until you’re old and deserve to be jaded like me.” The Hollywood Reporter has a lengthy article on Streep’s appearance with more quotes. A video of Meryl’s speech has been added with many thanks to EvaSofie. Pictures from the ceremony have been added to the photo gallery.

On December 6, Hunter College marked the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a powerful performance by actor and advocate Meryl Streep as Eleanor Roosevelt, who led the drafting of the declaration. The performance, staged as a dialogue with Navi Pillay, a former UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, took place at a star-studded reception at Hunter’s Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute. Pillay is now Leader in Residence at Roosevelt House’s Human Rights Program. “This event would be inspiring in any setting, but the ambience here is special — because we know that here Eleanor lived as she blossomed from wife and mother to social activist to political and policy advocate to admired leader in her own right,” said Jonathan F. Fanton Director of Roosevelt House Harold Holzer. Pictures from the event have been added to the photo gallery.

The Academy Museum Gala returned for its third year on Sunday night, honoring Meryl Streep, Michael B. Jordan, Oprah Winfrey and Sofia Coppola among an A-list group of guests. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Los Angeles event — which was originally scheduled for Oct. 14 but was delayed until December following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel — serves as the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ marquee annual fundraiser, raising vital funds to support museum exhibitions, education initiatives and public programming; it has also quickly become one of Hollywood’s starriest nights. The gala raised more than $10 million in support of the museum, and presented four awards to reflect the its mission to advance the understanding, celebration and preservation of film and to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema. Greta Gerwig presented Streep with the Academy Museum Gala Icon Award, celebrating her significant global cultural impact, and Chloe Zhao presented The Visionary Award to Coppola. Meryl Streep made a surprise appearance at yesterday’s Albie Awards in New York City. The awards, run by The Clooney Foundation for Justice, exist “to shine a protective spotlight on courageous justice defenders who are at risk,” according to an official online statement. The Albies are named after anti-apartheid hero Justice Albie Sachs, who received a lifetime achievement award at the inaugural event. This year, Dr Denis Mukwege from the Republic of Congo received this prestigious award for his life-changing work as gynecologist, treating survivors of wartime sexual violence. Viola Davis presented Dr Mukwege with the award. “I thank you for radicalising love, for making these women feel whole, and thank you for not leaving them behind,” the actor said to the awardee. Meryl Streep also addressed the room. “Throughout history, there have been tyrants. And regardless of how long it takes, they always fall,” she said. Pictures from the event have been added to the photo gallery.
