Here comes another fantastic addition to the archives with many thanks to Simona. The Italian Il Venerdi di Repubblica featured a cover story and nine page article on Meryl in January 1989 to promote the release of “A Cry in the Dark”, featuring some great full page images. Have a look at the scans in the image library.
Many thanks to Claudia for sending in Meryl’s Best Actress bit from the latest Entertainment Weekly. “Working with Streep can be intense. Julianne Nicholson recalls a small scene where she sits in the backseat of a car beside Streep and Julia Roberts. “We’re sort of chatting a little bit, and all of a sudden we’re rolling and Meryl starts acting,” says Nicholson. “The whole car just felt full of feeling, and it was suffocating in the best way. It was so real. If you were sitting in that car, I would dare you not to cry.”
A real treat has been added to the gallery – one of the first major articles on Meryl’s career by the New York Times Magazine, dated February 4, 1979. This has been just after the release of “The Deer Hunter”, for which Meryl received her first ever Oscar nomination, and still almost a year ahead of the theatrical release of “Kramer vs. Kramer”. The scans have been submitted by Alvaro with many many thanks!
Additionally to the scans, transcripts from older articles have been added to the magazines archive as well. They range from as early as 1976, covering Meryl’s rise on the New York stages, to 1998 and the release of “One True Thing”. My thanks to Paul for contributing them. Enjoy reading.

If yesterday’s magazines update has kept you reading, here’s a little bonus. Meryl has been featured in the January 2014 issue of Marie Claire with a four page article, including some great pictures. Scans have been added to the gallery. Many thanks to Joan for the contribution. This weekend, I’ll post a great magazine find from the past, so check back!
A big batch of recent magazines scans have been added to the image library, coming from Spanish, Russian, UK and US publications. Among the highlights is Entertainment Weekly’s first look on “The Giver”, a cover story from the Russian Hollywood Reporter and the first Catalan magazine addition to the site (I think we’re having all regions covered by now :-) All new additions can be launched by the list below. Many thanks to Anna for the Russian scans and Alvaro for the other ones. Very appreciated! Enjoy reading.

The SAGs have been handed out, “August: Osage County” hasn’t been among the recipients once again. I think it’s safe to say this is Cate Blanchett’s year, which is just deserving. But it looks like Meryl and Emma Thompson had lots of fun on the red carpet. Over 200 additional pictures from the red carpet and the show have been added to the gallery. Many thanks to Lindsey for helping out. Also, screencaptures from the show have been added as well and the video is in the video archive. Enjoy the new additions.

Lots of updates today! Let’s start with the videos first. A clip of Meryl’s appearance at the Critics Choice – presenting the Best Director award to Alfonso Cuaron as well as the Best Actress segment – have been added, alongside a red carpet interview by Entertainment Tonight, in which she states her disappointment that Emma Thompson didn’t make the cut at the Oscar nominations. Then, ITV has aired an interview with Meryl on their programme “Lorraine”. This was taped back in November when Meryl was shooting “Into the Woods”, about she speaks (and sings) in this segment. Many thanks to Tina for uploading this in the first place. Enjoy the new clips.
Continuing with gallery updates, lots of additional pictures from the Critics Choice Awards have been added. Once again, thanks to Claudia for contributing some great pictures.
Last but not least, screencaptures from both the Critics Choice Awards and the Lorraine interview have been added to the gallery. If you’ve lost sight by now, use the summary list of all last updated gallery pages below the previews. Enjoy the new pictures.

Here’s a surprise for today. Although Meryl’s interview with Ellen has been taped yesterday but won’t air until Monday, Ellen’s website has posted three preview clips (which, together, run for 10 minutes, so that I call a preview!) from the interview. Meryl talks about her 18th Oscar nomination and the letter she wrote to Emma Thompson after finding out she was not nominated. She also talks about doing a safari after wrapping “The Giver” in South Africa last December. Then, Ellen lets Meryl read various text passages in different characters. So in case you’ve ever dreamed of Meryl reading a traffic report while giving birth, here you go. The preview clips have been combined to one (the middle one is not in the best quality but will be edited later) and can be found in the video archive. Promotional pictures as well as HD screencaptures have been added to the gallery.
The 19th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards have just started and Meryl and Julia Roberts have graced the red carpet. Both are nominees tonight in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress category, respectively. A first bunch of pictures have been added to the gallery with more to follow. Edit: Neither Streep nor Roberts have won, but over 200 additional pictures from both the red carpet and the ceremony (where Meryl presented the Best Director award to Alfonso Cuaron for “Gravity”) have been added to the gallery.
