Yesterday, Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline lead the cast of “Courage in Concert” – a benefit performance of music from Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children. Joining principal cast members Jenifer Lewis, Austin Pendleton and Frederick Weller for the benefit were the cast members from the Tony-winning revival of Hair as well as Daniel Craig, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Linda Emond and Mike Nichols. The evening served as a benefit for the American Jewish World Service and Partners In Health, both of which aim to improve the well-being of people in impoverished communities around the world. Added 20+ new film clips to the video archive, all of them are new to the site. The clips range from the very beginning with television performances in “The Deadliest Season”, “Uncommon Women and Others” and “Holocaust” to her classic scenes in “The French Lieutenant’s Woman”, “Plenty”, “Out of Africa”, “Death Becomes Her” and “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events”. Here comes a real blast from the past – Meryl’s very first appearance at the Golden Globe Awards. The year is 1989 and Meryl was nominated as Best Actress in a Drama for “A Cry in the Dark” – my personal favorite performance.  1989 marked the first and so far only three way tie in the history of the Golden Globes in the Lead Actress – Drama category, unfortunately Meryl was not among the winners. Nevertheless, this is a wonderful addition to the archives, so enjoy the clip!

Courtesy the Internet Movie Database comes a new theatrical poster for “It’s Complicated” – probably a second draft for its US release, or an international version.
