Last week, Meryl has attended a press conference for “August: Osage County” in London. You can view pictures in the image library. Many thanks to Lindsey for sending them in.

An array of celebrities, including Jeremy Irons, Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Kate Moss and Tracey Ullman, among others, join McCartney in the video. Meryl is featured in some short scenes in the second half of the video. Additionally, captures from the music video have been added to the image library.
In anticipation of Paul McCartney’s new music video “Queenie Eye” (which premieres tomorrow on VEVO), a behind-the-scenes featurette has been published today, revealing more of the video’s famous guests. Besides Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp, additional “Into the Woods” cast members are featured, including Chris Pine, James Corden and Tracey Ullman. The complete featurette can be watched in the video archive. Screencaptures as well as an official on-set picture of Meryl have been added to the image library.
As previously reported, the cast of “August: Osage County” has been honored as Best Enemble cast at the Hollywood Film Awards. Julia Roberts was honored as Best Supporting Actress as well. Unfortunately, Meryl was a no-show at the ceremony, but most of her castmembers attended and took the stage to accept the award. You can watch their speech, held by Chris Cooper and Margo Martindale here.
When Sir Paul McCartney calls, Hollywood answers — as was the case with shooting his new Queenie Eye music video. “I didn’t quite know who would be in it and people started to show up,” said Paul. Those “people” included Meryl Streep, Jude Law, Johnny Depp, Kate Moss and Chris Pine! “It’s turning Abbey Road into a little party zone, which is fine by me,” said Paul. The setting for the video, Abbey Road, is the same studio where Paul McCartney recorded many songs with The Beatles, including their first single, Love Me Do. The Queenie Eye music video will premiere Thursday, October 24 at noon ET on VEVO. The song is featured on New, out now, which marks Paul’s first album of new solo material in six years.
Macmillan Audio has re-released its William Steig collection as a new audio edition. Three of the children stories – “Brave Irene”, “The Amazing Bone” and “Spinky Sulks” – are narrated by Meryl Streep. These are not new recordings as all stories have appeared on the 2007 “The One and Only Shrek” already, but in case you haven’t heard these lovely readings yet, head over to Amazon. Thanks to Frank for the heads-up. Also, there hasn’t been a proper mention of “The Testament of Mary” yet, which is also read by Meryl and was released earlier this year. To learn more, visit its career page, which features an audio excerpt as well.
According to Variety, Meryl Streep has been tapped to receive the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s annual Monte Cristo award, given each year to a legit creative singled out for distinguished contributions to the theater. Streep, who started out in theater before launching into film, has long stayed connected to the theater industry over the years, appearing in Shakespeare in the Park outings “Mother and Courage and her Children” (in 2006) and “The Seagull” (in 2001) and signing on as a presenting producer for the Broadway run of “Bridge and Tunnel” (in 2006). Last year she played Juliet opposite Kevin Kline’s Romeo in the Public Theater’s one-night-only reading of “Romeo and Juliet.” Streep will receive the Monte Cristo award — to be presented to her by actor Joe Grifasi, another O’Neill alum who was also her classmate at the Yale School of Drama — at an April 21 ceremony in Gotham. Many thanks to Glenn, Frank, Juha and Alvaro for the heads-up!
Here comes the fantastic new poster for “August: Osage County”, highlighting the disfunctional Weston family at its best. The film will be shown at the 2013 Houston Cinema Arts Festival, before its slated to be released on December 25th. This article on its Houston premiere also has a nice quote by Julia Roberts on the film’s making: “I’ve never worked so hard in my life – and I’ve given birth to three children. We would work all day and go home and shower, and then all run to Meryl’s house and start practicing for the next day. Because you had to have that momentum going really about 19 or 20 hours of the day or else it would just leave you. And it was the best acting experience of my life.”
Some rather odd news by The Mirror, let’s see how this turns out. According to them, Paul McCartney is currently shooting a music video for his new single Queenie Eye in London’s Abbey Road Studios, which will boast celebrity cameos. While the article focuses mostly on Johnny Depp and Kate Moss appearing in the video, it also has the following quote: I’m told: “There were a whole host of celebrities taking part. It was a really mixed bunch. Meryl Streep and Gary Barlow were in the studio, and there was an audience on set. But the big talking point was Kate and Johnny.” It wouldn’t be surprising though, since both Meryl and Johnny were in London shooting “Into the Woods” – and Meryl has revealed her love for the Beatles when she presented Paul McCartney with his Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 1990. Many thanks to Glenn for the news.
